Picklin' and Preservin'

'Tis the season, ya'll-- time to start putting tasty things in jars. 

  
We've already made many rounds of strawberry jam-- using this recipe from Orangette-- low yield, but oh, so high in taste. 



 And after a slow, cool spring, we have found ourselves suddenly in the thick of tomato and cucumber season.

Last year we kept a rotation of these refrigerator dill pickles made using a recipe from the modern-day Betty Crocker, Darby.  I can (and do--often!) eat an entire jar by myself at one sitting.  Bring on the heat and the sun-- I'm hungry!
