When I first stared reading blogs, I had the idea that they were all about crafts and family life and pretty pictures of vintage housewares. And so my blog had crafts and family life and pretty pictures of stuff I found at the Goodwill.
And then I found out about design blogs. You seriously mean to tell me that there are blogs devoted just to pulling pictures from magazines and talking about them? Because next to looking at pictures of fabric and talking about it, there is pretty much nothing I'd rather do than look at shelter magazines and talk about it (and try to (poorly) fake very expensive rooms by shopping at the Salvation Army on E. Lee Street.)
And then, Lord help me, I found out there are blogs about food. Whole, entire blogs dedicated to writing about choosing foods, and cooking and recipes. So you get a very long post on eggs.
Which is just to say that, hopefully, just maybe, you aren't bored in this space. Whatever I am in my life (stressed, crazed, joyful, tearstained, laughter-soaked), I'm generally not bored. Or, perhaps, I just get bored really, really quickly and haven't realized it yet.
The good news is that either way I shall continue to bounce happily from food to fabric to kids to flowers to work to sofas to-- well, I'm not sure what, exactly. Of all the things my blog shall be, the one thing is shall (hopefully) not be is boring.
John Harper, aged 15 months, wearing-- I kid you not-- a cape he designed himself, with great fits of gesticulation and grunting so as to clarify for me that he did, indeed, need it to be safety pinned on, and which he wore for the better part of two hours.
Because really, how could anything be boring with this around?
