If you love something, let it go??

Hi there, dear readers.  I need your help.  I think I'm living out that awesome "eye chart" that is floating all over blogland...
Love it, by the way.  You can buy it here.

We're back in yon Library today-- just where I know you want to be.  So you should first know that I've chucked out every single fabric selection, including the green chair.  You can't work with what you don't love, right?  I dug into my stash and let's just say oatmeal linen and leave it at that-- I have A LOT of sewing to do before you get to see any more afters.

So, back to my delima.  I took these chairs out on approval from my most favorite little place-- if you live in the Triad, you must make your way to Adelaide's on Spring Garden.  She doesn't have a website, but it's the most delightful mishmash of painted furniture, furniture waiting to be painted, fabrics, lighting and just a whole lot of general groovy-ness.

I. Love. Them.  Like, I reallyreallyreally love them.  So much.  And the price is right, as is the condition.  Of course, paint and fabric will come into play, so put your x-ray vision goggles on for me.

This room is so narrow-- only 12 feet wide-- and there is a piano on the opposite wall that has to stay.  It's also a pass-through room to our staircase.  Furniture placement is pretty limited.  I want so badly for these to feel right in there that I think I might be convincing myself that they work, when they really don't.  Here are views of the only two places they can go.  Whatcha think?
Here's a pretty clear view of what the room looks like (egad it is awful still!)  The stairs are just to the right of the fireplace.
The ball seems to be rolling along so that justmaybeperhaps it will be in my budget to add a second window to the front wall, surround the windows with built-in bookcases, and open up both the staircase wall and widen the doorway between the living room and this room in the next year.  Fingers crossed, please.  When that happens I know EXACTLY what I want in here (think the parlor in the Cottage Living New Orlean's Idea House.  I can't figure out how to scan it and there are no pictures online, but I know that a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about...)

And the chairs.  Imagine them in a crisp white laquer.  The little resin embellishments will be pried off, painted black, and reapplied.  For fabric, I love these choices:

I'd love this last one in a reverse-- white with black lattice.  Anybody seen one?

I'm also dreaming of deep cream chairs with similar fabrics printed in an inky blue... fabric dreams are the best kind, aren't they?

And just so you know, even if you tell me not to, I just might have to buy the chairs anyway.  But I promise I'll think long and hard about it before I do...

love the eye chart. & I'm going for option #1. I like how the green chair snuggles the shelving. Are you losing the green chair? if that goes, then option #2 seems right...& I nearly broke my neck trying to get a better glimpse of Adelaide's yesterday--not great signage, but LOVELY door step. Don't be surprised to catch me wrangling 2 wild things while pretending to grown-up shop in the near future. ooh, big comment...

Sounds like we need to make a trip to the fabric store in High Point.......
I love the idea of black and white fabric with the two chairs. Where is this thrift store??

Oh, sure you can make them fit! I like your black and white idea, too. Although, I'm always a fan of the inky blues and creams. Both are so classic.

So, I was basically no help to you whatsoever :)

First placement, second fabric (beee-YOU-tiful). B&W will mesh in better with the piano, if it has to stay.

What the hell is that other chair? With the beat up ottoman. Is that your actual reading chair? If you need the comfy chair, I say dump these anyway. Only so much unfunctional pretty can be in the world.
