THRIFT SCORE FRIDAY!

I thought it would be fun to start a little series sharing my best thrifting find of the week each Friday.  This week was a STELLAR week for thrift store hunting-- I quite literally did a happy dance after my haul today.

I fell head over heels in love with the chairs that designer Lauren Liess used in her room in the DC Design House.  (This chair is Lauren's own design, inspired by an antique chair she found, and will be available for purchase soon.)  The shape and scale of these chairs is perfect-- cozy, unusual, and eye-catching.

I had 5 minutes--literally-- today to pop into a Goodwill.  There was a circle of ladies-- really, there was!-- standing around a pair of chairs, all on their cell phones trying to get approval from whoever approves their purchases to buy something.  When I got closer, my eyes just about popped out of my head.  I put on my sweetest voice ever, said ya'll a lot, and asked reallyreallyreally nicely if they cared if I bought the chairs.  I've found acting extra Southern often makes people more willing to help you.  My theory must be a good one, because I came home with THESE!!!

WOW, huh?!

Happy, happy weekend!
PS-- I got a new fireplace during my blog break.  If I start a series called "How NOT to renovate your old home" I will tell you all about it.  It's some story.

The seats/ one arm are showing some patches of wear, but I think, ala the inspiration chairs, that you could salvage most of the fabric, use a fun velvet or slubby linen--cornflower blue, sunshine yellow or honeysuckle pink--and recover the seat/arms. The seats are tufted (sigh!) and the label for the original owner, with her custom specs dated 1953 is on the bottom...

Wow! Which goodwill? You just never know what you will find do you? I could thrift store shop all day. Maybe one day we will run into each other - hopefully not reaching for the same item :)
