A thousand thank yous....

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, said a prayer, sent good energy and kind thoughts this weekend.   We can see that Mandy and Ed are totally and completely enveloped in the love and support of family and myriad friends.  I don't know if this makes anything easier for them, but I can hope that it does.   My mother-in-law shared these words from Anne Lamott about helping parents cope with tragedy.  We will all continue to raise this barn of love and support around Mandy and Ed for as long as needed.
I had planned to share some progress on the house that we've made lately with you this week.  I just can't do that right now.  Our minds and hearts are full of our children right now, so instead I'd like to focus for a little bit on my own sons.

We had the chance to witness Grady's first-ever self-portrait today.  While we were playing in the back yard, he began to draw.  First a head and body emerged.  "Oh, I forgot to make an eye.  I'll make one because you can't see the other because it's on the other side of my head."  As I asked him about it, he realized that he had also forgotten the arms and legs.  I can't tell you how amazing it was to watch this realization unfold.  And so I present you "Self-Portrait: Grady T.: with two arms and two legs: and one eye."

Beautiful portrait, Grady! Finn's started drawing vehicles, which I adore, but no portraits yet. :) Still holding your friends up in the light and toward the arms of God. ((hugs))

that seems incredibly acute of him to notice these details at such a young age!

I am just catching up and I am so sorry to hear all of this. My heart breaks for them. I just read that whole piece, it is great. Prayers will be sent their way.

The portrait was great too. It is the little things...
